MindOomph Shorts No. 75: Is intellectual wealth a goal?

Should I strive to be materially rich or have intellectual wealth?

You know, I’ve been wrestling with this question lately: should I chase after material riches or focus on becoming intellectually wealthy? It’s been on my mind a lot, especially after a recent visit to the British Council. Let me tell you, being surrounded by all those intellectually savvy folks made me feel like I was way behind the curve.

I used to think that having all the fancy stuff – the cars, the clothes, and the lifestyle – was the ultimate goal. But now, I’m starting to see things differently. I’m realizing that there’s more to life than just material possessions. There’s a richness that comes from feeding your mind and expanding your horizons.

When I think about it, I’ve always been attracted to the idea of being intellectually sharp. There’s something so appealing about being well-read, knowledgeable about the world, and able to engage in deep conversations about important topics. It’s like there’s this whole world of ideas out there just waiting to be explored, and I want to be a part of it.

Sure, I might not be as sophisticated as some of the people I saw at the British Council, but that doesn’t mean I can’t strive to be better. I want to dive headfirst into the world of books, soak up knowledge like a sponge, and never stop learning and growing.

And you know what? I think prioritizing intellectual wealth over material riches is the way to go. After all, the things we learn and the experiences we have stay with us forever. They shape who we are and how we see the world, and no amount of money can buy that kind of richness. I’m kinda confident in how I dress, so maybe that’s why now I’m extremely attracted to becoming better intellectually.

So yeah, I’m shifting my focus away from the superficial and diving deep into the realm of ideas. It might be a different path than what I originally imagined, but I think it’s the right one for me. And who knows? Maybe along the way, I’ll discover a kind of fulfillment that I never even knew existed.

Until next time, Adios amigo!
