Anecdotes of Life

Me and My… Alternate Reality (The Powerful truth?)

Don’t be afraid to stand alone
Don’t be afraid to stand outside the door alone
I know it’s hard to work from home
And it ain’t easy all alone

Justin Bieber (Song: Hard 2 face reality)

My alternate reality will definitely have me living in the most expensive place in Delhi, owning the nicest cars, wearing the nicest clothes, having the best food in town and running my own business. Now that we are past the materialistic stuff that everyone wants, let’s dive deeper into the type of person I would be that made me achieve so much in life.

Yesterday I visited a cafe and I had the privilege of sitting with people who I aspire to become like. The crowd there was only rich and classy people which we love (laughing emojis). I love to see what my future can look like. It motivates me but I still don’t do enough, but that’s besides the point.

I literally sat on this table. how is internet so good at this?

Two elderly ladies came and sat next to my table and they were troubled with the fan speed. She called someone to ask to turn off the fan but they were reluctant if we would agree. I quickly jumped into their conversation and said “You can turn it off, no worries.” One lady replied “Look, the kids are ok with it. The weather is too nice for fans today.” and I replied “Yes it is.”

This conversation made my day. I don’t know what it is about people with a higher status and behave well, I’m drawn to them. I am not a fangirl, or maybe I am (smirk emoji). I visited a luxury mall after. To roam around people who can actually buy the stuff we dream, makes me feel some type of way. Have you read my blog on my definition of luxury? Click here, if you haven’t (side eye emojis).

Isn’t this magnificient?

And this brings me to the most important thing that I think about. What do these people do or how do they operate that they have reached such a level and I haven’t? Coz it has to be their habits, rituals and routines. Even if I exclude the gifted, the lucky, the one with the lineage and the exceptions, there are many people who have achieved what I want

After binging and religiously consuming the content from people like Mel Robbins, Simon Sinek, Iman Gadzhi, Gary Vee one thing is clear- Mindset is everything. And success doesn’t always mean money. You can be a school teacher who is immensely happy doing the thing that you love- teaching children.

The definition of success is definitely subjective. My alternate reality is where I am doing things I love. Then there are traits that I want in my future self like being disciplined, spiritually active, empathetic, passionate about the things I do, philanthropic, technically skilled, etc. Even I thought that buying a Chanel bag or LV clothes is the epitome of success. But I have realized that money can buy you everything you want but it can never fill the void inside you.

I WILL buy these whenever I get the money (laughing emojis)

In my alternate reality I will be a balanced person who has enough money to fulfill all her desires and enough emotions and values that her life is happy. In that reality I won’t compare myself to every other person, I will keep promises to myself and I will make routines that are beneficial for me and keep up with them. I’m assuming I have more patience and less jealousy in the alternate universe (laughing emojis)

Wait, now that I wrote about all this I’m realizing that it isn’t that difficult to achieve it. Think about it. In short the only thing we need to work on is our mind and self love. All the routines that we want in place can only happen if we stick to the promises we make to ourselves. And to do that we need to respect ourselves enough so that we value every word we say. We got to start taking ourselves seriously. All this can stop being an illusion and start being a reality as soon as we decide that it can be (star eye emojis)

This will be the biggest flex for life!

Damn I didn’t know sharing my thoughts with you will actually boost me up and give me so much clarity. And it’s not that I didn’t know all of this before. But lately I have been caught up in the “all that could go wrong” stuff. Everything that I think seems impossible, although the chance of it actually coming true is very high

I remember this line from Mission Mangal where Akshay Kumar reminds us what Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam said “If there is a chance of 0.0001% of something working out, shut your mouth and keep going.” And here we are worrying about the stuff we have full control over.

My reality would definitely be a lot different than what it is now. But after listening to so many motivational videos and getting advice from the people who have already “made it”, I believe I can make all the changes required to achieve what I want.

Another great dialogue that I can never forget!

We are just afraid and lazy about the work we will have to do to achieve this. So we settle for whatever comes our way. A friend told me this once when I told him I wanna “Go with the flow”. He said “You are not a dead fish that you will go with the flow. You are alive and can even go against the flow.” That hit hard.

I get into the “go with the flow” attitude only to calm down my overthinking. But there are times when we shouldn’t be settling for whatever. It’s time to consciously make an effort to make our dreams a reality

Journal Time: I want you to write about your alternate reality. The place that is actually perfect according to you. Include everything you want- from the materialistic things to the habits and mindset. Go into detail and don’t leave a bit. I promise the peace you will attain after doing this will be surreal (talking from experience). As you write you will realize that half of what you have written can be achieved just by changing a few things in your life RIGHT NOW. Imagine- you can actually HAVE what you WANT.

Until next time, Adios Amigos.
