No. 183: The bird reminded me of something important!

I saw a dead bird on my terrace.

I was walking on my terrace this morning. Fifteen minutes in, I didn’t suspect a thing. But suddenly I turn my eye and a dead bird is just lying there. I was left wondering why I didn’t see it in the first place. But none the less, I continued. I noticed that this time while walking I couldn’t just walk past it.

When I didn’t know about the bird, I was walking without a worry in mind. But since the time I saw it, it was now in my vicinity and I couldn’t ignore it. But I didn’t stop walking either. I was going to complete the task I came in for. This felt like a metaphor for life. We make a plan and we start executing it.

We are going smoothly without a distraction in sight. Suddenly something comes up out of nowhere and for a moment all your attention just goes there. Slowly you come back to your senses and you start to analyze how this goes with your plan. You start picking up your pace again, but this time, you are mindful of this foreign situation or the distraction. But the question is, how do you tackle it?

In the situation of the bird, I left it there because I was too afraid to pick up the body and throw it away. Understanding I would do this, I kept walking and finished my course. But in life, we have choices. We can either be strong and deal with it then and there, or we can neglect it and hope for the best or we can take some time to come up with a way to deal with it. This depends on the person’s approach, their strength, their capability to deal with obstacles coming their way and their self-belief.

Everyone has a different way of dealing with critical situations. But we have one thing in common and that is the inability to ignore and move on. This is a skill to be learned. If we have the habit of getting phased because of every minor inconvenience, living life becomes difficult. On the contrary, if we can train ourselves and our minds to ignore what doesn’t serve us, we can go far. What would you have done in this situation?

Until next time, Adios amigo!

This encounter with the bird wasn’t my first time having an experience with animals. I am not actually not their species favorite, and you can know why HERE!
