My favorite quote these days is “If you don’t like something, take away it’s only power—your attention!”
It’s such a simple concept, but it’s got so much truth to it. Think about it. How often do we let things bother us, consume our thoughts, and drain our energy? Whether it’s a negative comment from a coworker or a frustrating situation at home, we tend to dwell on these things, letting them take up valuable space in our minds.
But what if we flipped the script? What if instead of giving these things power over us, we simply chose to ignore them? It’s easier said than done, I know. But imagine how much lighter we would feel if we stopped feeding into negativity and started focusing on the things that truly matter.
I’ve been trying to put this idea into practice in my own life, and let me tell you, it’s made a world of difference. Whenever I catch myself getting worked up over something trivial, I remind myself of this quote. I take a deep breath, refocus my attention, and move on with my day.
It’s amazing how empowering it feels to reclaim control over my thoughts and emotions. Instead of letting outside influences dictate how I feel, I’m taking charge of my own happiness. And you know what? It’s incredibly liberating. Of course, it’s not always easy to tune out the noise. There are times when negativity creeps in, and it takes all my willpower to push it aside. But that’s okay. It’s all part of the process.
At the end of the day, it’s about recognizing where we’re putting our energy and making a conscious choice to redirect it when necessary. By choosing to focus on the positive, we’re not only improving our own mental well-being but also setting an example for those around us.
So, the next time you find yourself getting caught up in negativity, remember this quote. Take back your power, and don’t let anything or anyone dull your shine. After all, life’s too short to waste it on things that don’t bring us joy.
Until next time, Adios amigo!
I used to give a lot of power to negative self-belief and that is when I wrote about My Acne Journey. You can read about it HERE!
