MindOomph Shorts No. 66: Living It in My Mind!

Stop living it twice!

Living through a tough situation once is hard enough, but living it over and over again in your mind? That’s just torture. Trust me, I’ve been there. When something bad happens, it’s natural to worry about it happening again. You start replaying the event in your head, imagining all the ways it could go wrong, and before you know it, you’re trapped in a cycle of fear and anxiety.

But here’s the thing: worrying about the future won’t change what’s going to happen. It’ll just make you miserable in the present. So, instead of dwelling on what might go wrong, focus on what you can control. Prepare as best as you can, sure, but don’t let it consume you. Take practical steps to protect yourself or prevent the same thing from happening again, but do it without stressing yourself out. Trust that you’ve done everything you can, and then let it go.

Easier said than done, I know. But with practice, you can train your mind to let go of those negative thoughts and focus on the here and now. You’ll feel lighter, happier, and more at peace with yourself. So, next time you catch yourself living through a bad experience twice, stop and remind yourself that you don’t have to. Take a deep breath, let go of the fear, and choose to live in the present instead. You’ll thank yourself for it later.

Until next time, Adios amigo!
