Calm down! They are thoughts, not facts.
You know, I’ve come to realize that a lot of the stuff that goes on in our heads is just thoughts. They’re not facts; they’re not real – they’re just thoughts. And the thing is, they only weigh us down when we let them. When we attach all these emotions to them and let them take control.
I think a big part of it is that we’re so used to being in this constant state of fight or flight. We’re always on edge, always ready to defend ourselves against whatever comes our way. So when these thoughts pop up, it’s like our brain goes into overdrive, thinking it’s some kind of threat that we need to deal with.
But the truth is, most of the time, these thoughts are just noise. They’re not actually doing anything to us; they’re just there, floating around in our heads. And if we can learn to detach ourselves from them, to see them for what they really are—just thoughts—then maybe we can start to let go of all that unnecessary stress and anxiety.
I’m not saying it’s easy. Trust me, I know how hard it can be to break out of that cycle of negative thinking. But I also know that it’s possible. It just takes practice, and patience, and a whole lot of self-compassion.
So the next time you find yourself getting triggered by some random thought, just take a step back and remind yourself: it’s just a thought. It’s not real, it’s not true, and it certainly doesn’t define who you are. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll find a little bit of peace in the midst of all that chaos.
Until next time, Adios amigo!
