The silver platter we discard is a dream for a lot of people. We should count our blessings!
And I am not talking about material things that can more or less be acquired by everyone. But I am talking about the basic opportunities, equality, freedom, and support we take for granted. I just finished watching 12th Fail on Hotstar, and apart from it being every UPSC aspirant’s life, it also proved a point that our parents have been telling us since childhood.
“If they can do it without any resources while facing the struggles of life, what’s stopping you from doing it?” And it’s true. While I was reminiscing about my year, I was thinking about things that I could have done better. I complain about waking up early in the morning when someone hasn’t slept all night because they were studying, and now they are leaving for work with just 2 hours of sleep. I complain about a few broken threads on my clothes when someone has been wearing the same clothes for years. I complain about the lack of lighting in my videos when someone only has street lights to study.
I can keep going on about the blessings we have, but it’s of no use until and unless we internalize the fact that WE ARE BLESSED. If you are reading this, we are on the same page because we are privileged enough to have a device in our hands.
Let’s continue this year by taking an oath to acknowledge the blessings we have and how we can be better. And whenever you feel like you are lacking, remind yourself that somebody would do wonders if they had the same opportunities as you!
Until next time, Adios amigo!
