I am on my way to becoming a teacher.
I just watched the movie- SIR on Netflix.
My mom has been a teacher for 27 years. She has taught students in a coaching centre, then physics and chemistry to classes 9th and 10th and since 15 years she has been teaching computer science to classes 11th and 12th. I have witnessed the effect on her students firsthand. If the teacher is good and gives her all, she becomes an inspiration for her students.
And this is what the movie was all about. It showed how a teacher, without caring about money or resources, gave it his all to teach underprivileged kids. When education becomes business, the study starts lacking. But after defying all odds, the movie showed the struggle and the passion needed to bring the best out of the students.
A teacher isn’t just there to teach a lesson. Rather, he is a mentor, a partner, a friend, a guide, and a light for the student’s future. I still feel the spark my teachers from school lit in me. I still remember their lessons, their nature, their personalities, their clothes, and even their mannerisms. At an impressionable age, when I saw them behaving a certain way, I tried to copy them. I copied the way my mom filled out her attendance register. I still accompany her in making her daily and weekly diary. She has made a pseudo-teacher at home itself!
Now that I’m almost done with my B.Ed. I can already feel the responsibility I have when I step into this world of teaching. I know it won’t be easy and every step I take has to be well thought out. I hope I inspire the students I teach and leave a legacy just like my mom and all my other beloved mentors that I still miss today ❤
Until next time, Adios amigo!
Speaking of teaching, I have had scary encounters with entrance exams and my relationship with them isn’t very pleasant. You can read about the three different times I have had to torment myself HERE!
