MindOomph Shorts No. 166: Studying didn’t make me happy!

When I saw the kids studying, I wanted to relive my childhood.

I’m sitting at my cousin’s place while I’m writing this and my aunt is taking tuition for kids ranging in age from 6 to 11 years old. One of them is studying Hindi; one of them is studying Science; and one of them is studying Maths.

I can see so many variations in these children. The girl who is studying science is so sharp and attentive that she can fail any adult. The focus she has while reading her book is reminding me of the time when my mom used to be a strict teacher and make me study at all costs. It looks like she has her concepts in place and is actually interested in what she is doing.

The child who is doing maths doesn’t care. She is sleepy as hell and could be up to doing anything other than studying. Her mom came to drop her off because she was upset with my aunt (her tuition teacher) because she scolded her. She is uninterested, dozing off every other minute and isn’t even holding the pencil.

a teacher sitting in her dining room on the sofa with 3 little kids (two girls and a boy) who are taking tuitions. the boy is taking dictation from the teacher, one girl is solving an assignment; and the other girl is reading. The room is naturally lit and there is a cat roaming around. it has a heading "The innocence in children", innocence in children, children innocence quotes, children innocence images, article on taking tuitions, article on teaching little kids, article on innocence of a child, life lessons, graphic, illustration, ideogram, mindoomph, pep talk, rants, daily diary, self help, self love, self image, self take, profound thoughts, personal development, growth mindset, self improvement, self exploration, personal growth, Childhood nostalgia, Observing kids, Carefree childhood, Living in the moment, Simplicity of childhood, studying hard

And the boy who is studying Hindi has a studious but naughty vibe. He is looking around, chilling, doing his dictation, and asking 700 questions at once. He looks dedicated and innocent at heart. Whenever I look at him, he smiles back at me. He is constantly looking around and analyzing his environment.

One sitting gave me so many insights on kids, it’s appalling. They are so easy to figure out. At least that’s what it feels like. The cherry on top is that all of them are really cute and they aren’t throwing tantrums while studying. I couldn’t help but observe them because of the innocence each of them has. They are like open books and are easy to read.

I can’t remember the last time I was so carefree. They don’t have the look of a burden on their faces like we adults do. I wanted to enter the headspace they are in because it just feels nostalgic and inviting. I would give up a lot to just live out a few minutes of my childhood again. Would you?

Until next time, Adios amigo!
