MindOomph Shorts No. 150: Scars are truly beautiful!

These scars won’t go away just like that!

The scars have been formed over years, and you expect them to go away in days? How’s that possible? It took a long time for these scars to form, both physical and emotional. They’ve become a part of us, part of our story.

Healing takes time. It’s a slow process, and it’s important to be patient with ourselves. Expecting instant results only leads to frustration. It’s like trying to grow a tree overnight. You need to plant the seed, water it, give it sunlight, and wait. Over time, with care and patience, it grows into something strong and beautiful.

I’ve had to remind myself of this often. Whenever I feel impatient or upset that I’m not healing as quickly as I want, I try to take a step back and remember how long it took for these scars to form. It’s not realistic to think they’ll disappear quickly. I’ve learned to celebrate small victories along the way, no matter how tiny they seem. Each step forward, no matter how small, is progress.

Take skincare, for example. We mistreat our skin for years, ignoring its needs, skipping sunscreen, and not moisturizing properly. Then, we expect a miracle cream to fix everything in just one week. It’s not realistic. Just like our emotional scars, our skin needs time and consistent care to heal. A week isn’t enough to undo years of neglect. We need to give it the time it needs and take proper care of it every day.

Sometimes, the scars might not go away completely, and that’s okay. They are a part of who we are. They tell our story and show our strength. Each scar means we survived something; we came out stronger on the other side. Embracing them, rather than wishing them away, can be a part of the healing process too.

I’ve also realized that healing isn’t just about getting rid of scars. It’s about learning to live with them and to find peace despite them. It’s about understanding that they don’t define us, but they are a part of our journey. It’s about finding ways to move forward, even with our scars.

Let’s give ourselves the time we need to heal. Let’s be kind to ourselves and remember that it’s okay to take things slow. Healing is a journey, not a race. And with time, patience, and self-love, we will find our way.

Until next time, Adios amigo!
