MindOomph Shorts No. 129: This quote changed my life!

This is the central quote on my Mood Board this year: “The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding!”

Placing a quote in the center helps me set an intention. This quote speaks volumes to me. It’s like a wake-up call, a gentle reminder that the things I want won’t just magically appear. They’re not going to fall into my lap while I sit back and wait. No, the magic—the real magic—is in the work, the effort, the sweat, and the tears.

I’ve always been a dreamer, someone who’s constantly envisioning a better future. But sometimes, I get so caught up in dreaming that I forget about the most important part: the doing. It’s easy to get lost in the fantasy of what could be. To imagine myself living my dream life, achieving my goals, and basking in the glory of success. But here’s the thing: none of that will ever happen if I don’t put in the work.

And let’s be real, the work isn’t always glamorous. It’s not always fun or exciting. Sometimes, it’s downright boring and tedious. No quote motivates you enough to move. It’s the hours spent grinding away at a project, the late nights and early mornings, the setbacks and failures. But you know what? That’s where the magic happens. It’s in the moments when I push past my comfort zone and challenge myself to do better. It’s in the small victories and the big breakthroughs. It’s in the process of becoming the person I’ve always wanted to be.

So this year, I’ve made a conscious decision to stop avoiding work. To stop procrastinating, making excuses, and waiting for the perfect moment to start. Because the truth is, there’s never a perfect moment. There’s only now. I’ve started by breaking down my big goals into smaller, more manageable tasks. Instead of focusing on the end result, I’m focusing on the next step—the one thing I can do right now to move closer to my goal. This year’s quote helps me do that.

And you know what? It’s working. I can feel the magic starting to happen. Not in some mystical, otherworldly sense, but in the very real, very tangible progress I’m making every day. Sure, there are still days when I struggle. When I’d rather curl up on the couch and binge-watch Netflix than sit down and do the work. But I’ve learned to recognize those moments for what they are: distractions. And I divert my mind from these distractions with a list of quotes I have made for myself.

Because the truth is, I don’t want to look back on my life and wonder what could have been. I want to know that I gave it my all, that I chased my dreams with everything I had, and that I never gave up, no matter how hard it got. So here’s to embracing the work, to rolling up our sleeves and to getting our hands dirty. Because that’s where the real magic lies. And who knows? Maybe, just maybe, we’ll find that the work itself is the greatest reward of all.

Until next time, Adios amigo!
