MindOomph Shorts No. 118: A capable and safe being!

Saying, “I am capable; I’m safe. I have done it before, and I can do it again!” works every time!

Whenever I find myself in a tough spot, I have this little pep talk with myself. It’s like my own personal cheerleader, reminding me of what I’m capable of. I say to myself, “I am capable; I’m safe. I have done it before, and I can do it again.”

It might sound cheesy, but honestly, it works wonders. Just repeating those words to myself helps to calm my nerves and boost my confidence. It’s like flipping a switch in my brain from panic mode to problem-solving mode.

The “I am capable” part is all about self-belief. It’s about reminding myself that I have the skills, the knowledge, and the strength to handle whatever comes my way. It’s about acknowledging my own abilities and trusting myself to figure things out.

Then there’s the “I’m safe” part. This is all about reassurance. It’s about reminding myself that no matter what happens, I’ll be okay. It’s about trusting that I can handle whatever life throws at me and that I have the support and resources I need to get through it.

And of course, there’s the “I have done it before, and I can do it again.” This is all about resilience. It’s about looking back on past challenges and remembering how I overcame them. It’s about drawing strength from those experiences and knowing that if I did it once, I can do it again.

This internal dialogue has become like my personal mantra, my go-to in times of stress or uncertainty. It’s amazing how just a few simple words can have such a powerful effect on my mindset.

And you know what? It’s not just about saying the words; it’s about truly believing them. It’s about embracing the confidence, the reassurance, and the resilience that they represent. Of course, that’s not to say that I never doubt myself or feel afraid. I’m only human, after all. But having this internal dialogue helps me to quiet those doubts and fears and focus on moving forward.

And you know what else? The more I practice this positive self-talk, the more automatic it becomes. It’s like I’ve trained my brain to default to a mindset of confidence and resilience, even in the face of adversity. So yeah, whenever I’m feeling overwhelmed or unsure, I just remind myself, “I am capable; I’m safe. I have done it before, and I can do it again.” And you know what? It works every time.

Until next time, Adios amigo!

And that’s not it. I have talked about self-talk HERE because I really believe that words hold power. You need to reassure yourself because you have to become your first supporter.
