MindOomph Shorts No.74: Spontaneity Isn’t Exciting!

Spontaneity isn’t a thrill for me!

I hope I’m not the only one who likes to be prepared. I like to know what I’m getting myself into. It takes a lot for me to “just do” things instantly, without preparing. I mean, sure, I love a good adventure as much as the next person, but I like to have a plan in place before diving into anything headfirst. Call me cautious, call me meticulous – I just like to know what I’m getting myself into.

Spontaneity has always felt a bit like stepping into the unknown without a safety net for me. It’s exciting, sure, but it can also be a little nerve-wracking. I thrive on routines and predictability, finding comfort in the familiar rhythms of everyday life.

But hey, that doesn’t mean I’m opposed to spontaneity altogether. There have been times when I’ve thrown caution to the wind and embraced the unexpected – and let me tell you, those moments have often led to some of the most memorable experiences of my life.

snapping of fingers with, I can't "JUST DO IT!" as the heading 3d render illustration typography, mindoomph, motivation, self help, self love, self image, pep talk, rant, daily diary, ideogram graphics, article on "just do it", nike logo just do it, nike swoosh, article on spontaneity, spontaneous and adventurous person, routines, comfort zone, fear of the unknown, Spontaneity, being spontaneous

Lately, though, I’ve been trying to strike a balance between my love for planning and the thrill of spontaneity. I’ve been saying yes to more last-minute adventures, embracing new opportunities as they come my way, and learning to go with the flow a bit more.

It’s been a journey, for sure. I’ve had to push past my comfort zone and let go of my need for control, but I’m starting to see the value in living in the moment. Life is too short to always play it safe, right?

So while I may never be the spontaneous one in our friend group, I’m learning to appreciate the beauty of embracing life’s surprises. And who knows? Maybe one day I’ll even learn to love the thrill of spontaneity as much as you do. But until then, I’ll stick to my trusted planning and preparation – it’s what keeps me grounded, after all.

Until next time, Adios amigo!
