MindOomph Shorts No. 17: This generation is scary!

I’m Gen Z, but I don’t like this generation!

Sending my brother off to college felt like stepping into a whole new world, and let me tell you, it was a bit nerve-wracking. Unlike the generations before us, we’re navigating uncharted waters, and the uncertainty of what he might become in these four years sends a shiver down my spine. I can sense the anxiety our parents are grappling with as they navigate this unfamiliar journey with us.

It’s quite amusing how, as we move forward, the urgency to get us married becomes a bit clearer. It’s not merely about financial responsibility, although that’s undoubtedly a big part of it. It’s about handling the ups and downs, deciphering why a child seems to be heading in multiple directions, and so much more. The responsibilities seem to be never-ending.

A fitting image to represent the above paragraph could be a split-screen depiction. On one side, visualize a nostalgic '90s scene, perhaps with iconic symbols like a cassette player, a retro-style outfit, or an image of SRK. On the other side, showcase a more contemporary setting, featuring elements like a college campus, a laptop, and a group of young individuals engaged in various activities. The split-screen concept would visually emphasize the contrast between the past and the present, symbolizing the generational shifts and changes discussed in the paragraph., mindoomph, generation gap, 90s kid, gen Z

Even though our fashion sense has taken a nostalgic trip back to the ‘90s, the values don’t always seem to tag along. It’s a genuine concern to witness some core values taking a downhill slide. This makes me worry about the generations to come, growing up without the charm and influence of iconic figures like SRK, who shaped our cultural landscape.

The shift in language is another noteworthy change. I find myself chuckling at the lingo, wondering how we got here. Remember when going to tuition was considered a bit embarrassing? Now, it’s the norm; every kid has private tuition for all subjects.
In the midst of laughter and nostalgia for the ’90s, there’s a genuine concern for the direction we’re headed. As we witness these changes, it becomes crucial to hold onto the values that truly matter, ensuring that the generations to come find their way with a solid foundation in a world that’s evolving faster than ever. 🚀✨

Until next time, Adios amigo!
