MindOomph Shorts No. 8: New Day, Same Story with PCOD!

How should I comprehend being back to square one? New Day, Same Story with PCOD!

I got an ultrasound today, and it turns out PCOD hasn’t left my side yet. I started battling PCOD four years ago. It was supposedly cured in one and a half years. But the hormonal imbalance was still there, and it wasn’t getting better. Since then, I’ve been continuing my homeopathic medications with no significant results.

When I got my results today, it showed that my PCOD had reoccurred. The two years of thinking that I finally won the battle went down the drain right before my eyes. Allegedly, if you are once cured, it doesn’t come back that easily, but I was the unfortunate one. I asked the doctor, and he said, “This doesn’t really happen, but such is life. Pretty uncertain.”

In my head, I was making progress in terms of my health, but scans show otherwise. Thankfully, I can afford to continue my treatment, but the toll that it takes on my mental health is unreal. For me, PCOD didn’t affect my weight, but the outrageous acne, excessive facial hair, mood swings, nausea, and countless other things made up for it.

I wrote in detail about it in my blogs, PCOD (Part-1) and PCOD (Part-2) but just looking at that report brought back all the trauma.

If you are going to something like this, all I would say is don’t lose hope; things do get better. Or maybe I have just gotten used to it. Lifestyle diseases like these can be controlled by better daily habits and choices. One thing that these diseases bring is the strength that we develop while battling them. Don’t worry, we got this!

Until next time, Adios Amigo!
