We’re both acting insane, but too stubborn to change
Now I’m drinkin’ again, 80 proof in my veins
And my fingertips stained, looking over the edge
Don’t – with me tonightPost Malone (Song: Goodbyes)
Why have these blogs been so nostalgic lately? Am I the only one feeling this or do you feel the same (laughing emojis)? From the Convent school series Part 1 and Part 2 to the Bus rides and love for sports, I hope I have been successful in taking you back to your childhood. Today is no different. My younger brother has his farewell today (sob emojis). Him and I are 6 years apart and when I was in class 12 I used to talk about this moment. Now that it’s here, it makes me realize how fast time flew by. Just a few years ago I went to school for the last time to party and today he is at the same spot.
But just like always my story has a plot twist. Having completed my masters I have had the opportunity to attend three official goodbyes. I mean technically two so read till the end to know what I mean.
Farewell 1: School
Remember the first time you had to part ways with your besties was the school farewell. When I was in Class 11 we gave farewell to our seniors. And then when I reached class 12, I got one. When I gave the farewell, I danced to the song ‘Sorry’ by Justin Bieber which wasn’t really the first choice of song. But how can your girl miss out on an opportunity to perform on her idol’s music (laughing emojis). You can say that I technically forced everyone to dance on it. I remember wearing a black Gucci sweater (ofc it was real (laughing emojis)) and jeans.
The GUCCI was TOTALLY REAL (laughing emojis)!
When I attended my farewell, the Gods weren’t on my side (single life emojis). WE HAD TO WEAR OUR SCHOOL UNIFORMS. Yup, all our dreams of dressing up and wearing a saree went to drain. But still making the most of the moment, we danced our hearts out, clicked photos like crazy (keep no expectations because I don’t know where those photos are) and went home with happy souls.
Blurry photos, amazing memories
Farewell 2: Bachelors
This was my 2nd chance to dress up in a saree. But in my last year a stupid virus made the entire world lock themselves inside their homes. We never got a proper farewell coz of this bitch Covid. I mean I loved the fact that my last semester exams were online and I topped in my course because of that. But this bitch covid took away the most important time from me. I wanted to hug my friends almost the last time knowing that we would part ways.
And remember still I didn’t have the chance to wear a saree. At this point it almost felt like a wicked curse (laughing emojis).
Farewell 3: Masters
This time, offline exams were the demon we had to fight. After staying in and giving exams online for almost 2 years, we had to face the actual world once again. The degree which was feeling like a piece of cake started to get real. But in the end, it was a good experience because I studied my ass off after 2 years of cheating. We had achieved the ultra pro max level of cheating in online exams. No software or proctoring was able to stop us (laughing emojis).
Offline exams meant one thing- that the farewell was now bound to happen. And it did. Although it took my college 4 months to plan one, on 11th November 2022, your girl finally got the chance to rock the saree. I had to wait till my freaking masters to get a proper “saree farewell”. But I will show you the photo only if you promise that you will compliment me (kiss emojis).
That’s all you get from me today! Keep the compliments coming (kiss emojis)
Now in retrospect I realize that each time I celebrated in a different way. In school it was the best day I had with all my friends around. But in masters, I knew I had aged. Because there was no dancing or crazy happiness. It was sitting and listening to the speeches, wearing the black gown and waiting for hours to collect our degree.
All in all, it was great. Oh! I missed the unofficial party. I had attended one in my bachelors. You can read about it here. Ofc I had to include the story in the blog about my drinking experiences, coz it was one hell of a night.
Journal Time: (laughing emojis) You know what time it is. Your pen and diary are waiting for you to write about the happiest moments you spent while separating from your friends. Write about all the people who were a part of one of the best times of your life. Write about the people who were your best friends then but now you have lost touch. Be grateful about the people you were surrounded with then and the people you are with now. Everyone played an important part in your life. Recognize and appreciate with all your heart.
Until next time, Adios Amigos.
